DORA Metrics Primary Objectives

This metric measures the time from the initial code commit to production deployment. It helps to better understand the team’s cycle time and assesses its overall adaptability to the evolving product roadmap. 

The shorter the time required to make changes, the more responsive the team is and the faster they can add value to the product.

This metric gives the percentage of changes that subsequently resulted in incidents, rollbacks, degradation in service, or any other type of production failure. According to the DORA report, the best-performing companies are between 0 and 15%.

Time to restore

The mean time to recovery measures the required time to restore service caused by an outage or significant degradation of service. This metric is significant because it encourages developers to build more reliable, available, and resilient systems. We typically measure the mean time to recovery by tracking the average time from when an incident is reported to when service is restored.
